Being pure is a great goal. I tried it once and failed miserably. But then I heard someone tell me, or could it have been the Bible, that I could not do it...alone. I need the Holy Spirit. Duh... So there is not much we can do within our earthly bodies. Hey. I know, I will turn my problems and temptations over to Jesus, who knows how I am made and sacrifice myself to him..daily. whenever I can remember to do that. Thanks Ray for this reminder. I regret I have to be reminded every minute that I cannot do it alone and I need God. Lord help me to know you better and let you guide me and make my paths straight. We visited the Lava River Cave at the Newberry National Volcanic Monument south of Bend Oregon this week. http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/centraloregon/newberrynvm/dayuse/lavariver-du.shtml
It was a reminder to me, as I walked along holding my flashlight in the total darkness, that if it was not for the Light of Jesus in my old sinful heart, how lost and confused I would be. The blackness of the results of sins, like the darkness of the cave, is easily illuminated by making a choice to turn the light of the Gospel, (my flashlight) on! Lord please help me to make that choice more often.
